The George Hotel is a vibrant, award-winning pub with a focus on the arts, creativity and community-building. Located in the beautiful village of Hayfield, at the foot of Kinder Scout, it is the perfect setting for a party. The George serves great food and drink and if you want to come to of of our events, you can book a room and spend some time exploring the area.
We also do a mean breakfast on Saturdays and Sunday and the coffee is pretty decent!

Join the fun with Paul Bytheway for the monthly live music quiz. Its all played live except the picture round. There are 7 rounds in total. £2 per player. Max 6 players per team.
Sunday 1st November 2026, 5pm, Peter Chand Storyteller
We’re absolutely delighted to welcome internationally renowned storyteller Peter Chand to The George Hotel on Sunday 1st November!
A long-time friend of The Tent People, Peter is a truly captivating performer who brings stories to life with his incredible energy, humour and imagination.
5:30pm – Stories for Children
An enchanting storytelling session for our younger audience, full of wonder, mischief and magic!
7pm – Tales for Grown-Ups
As darkness falls, the stories take a darker turn… Expect mysterious happenings, unexpected twists and tales that might just send a shiver down your spine!
Friday 6th November, 20:00-23:00 - Hayfield Vinyl Night
Bring your records, bring your friends for the November vinyl night. Its close enough to halloween for the Ghostbusters theme tune right?!
Sunday 8th November, 16:30 - Ollersett Folk Trio
Ollersett are a folk trio based in the Dark Peak, blending original sets with tunes from Celtic and Scandinavian traditions. They join us at The George Hotel with a live set to close out your weekend.

Joss & Lynds are leaving The George!
Hello! We’ve got some news to share with you all.
After nearly two incredible years at the George, Lynds and I have decided that the time has come to pass the baton on.
When we first took over here, Our aim was to bring this incredible old pub back to life after it had been through a bit of a tricky time.
Having lived in hayfield for sometime we’ve always loved this place and when the opportunity came to put our spin on things it felt like the right move for us.
The George needed a huge amount of love, energy and attention — and for the last two years, that’s exactly what we’ve given it.
We have grown the business into a thriving village asset. It is now filled with, music, art, food, laughter, events and community, and it has become the busy, bustling village pub that we always believed it could be.
It now feels like the right time for us to hand it over to the next people, who can build upon what we’ve created here to write the next chapter.
We’re really pleased that in due course, new operators will be taking over from us, and that there’ll be continuity for our brilliant team and for the village.
Over the next few months, we’ll be working with our partner, Marstons, to make that transition as smooth as possible.
Lynds and I are incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved here, and we’re also ready for something new.
We’re ready for a little bit more freedom, some new adventures, more time together outdoors, more time with our families and with our schnauzer, Wes who’s getting on a bit!
We have genuinely loved being part of the George’s story but we’re also very much looking forward to finding out what the next chapter looks like for us too.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us, eaten here, drunk here, stayed here, danced here, played music here, and celebrated here.
You’ve helped us bring this place back to life and long may that continue!
We couldn’t be prouder of our 2 years at the helm of this 500 year old Hotel and we’d love to celebrate some more with you before we go on 11th Jan.
We’ve got more live music, dance parties, Halloween fun, festive feasts and a smasher of a NYE party to come. So come
